A number of times I have heard testimonies either online or through people that sound like someone had a powerful encounter with God, but the thing that happened is unscriptural. Sometimes though only in a subtle way.
I asked the Lord about one of these “testimonies” and he said:
“Do not be swayed by the enemy. Many people are convinced of his lies.”
I said, “Lord, I want to be confident in what your word is saying.”
I then heard, “Take me at my word.”
And he said, “A testimony should never be raised above my word. That is foolishness.”
And the Lord told me, “Many are deceived.”
The problem we are having is that people aren’t putting the word first. We need to look at everything through the eyes of the word. A supernatural encounter does not automatically mean it is from God. The devil is a deceiver and is quite capable of counterfeiting. Only when we put the word first can we see clearly.
