I received the following word after the Lord told me that someone I know was preaching a different gospel.
I asked the Lord how is he preaching a different gospel and I heard the word, “Works.”
I then heard:
“You will not enter my kingdom by works alone. You must be walking in my ways. You must know me and I must know you. That is how relationship works. Many are deceived into thinking that they can know me through the works of the flesh. That is idolatry. Come to me that you may have life. Jesus.”
I asked the Lord what are the works of the flesh that people think they can know you by and he said, “Good works.”
I then heard:
“They think they can earn their salvation. They don’t understand, I already paid the price. It is a gift that can’t be brought.”
I asked the Lord how it is idolatry.
And I heard the words, “Serving sin.”
I then heard, “Their eyes are not on me. They are on the world.”
Galatians 1:6-9 NKJV
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, [7] which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. [8] But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. [9] As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Galatians 2:15-16 NKJV
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, [16] knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, [9] not of works, lest anyone should boast. [10] For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. [2] Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. [3] For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. [4] When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
