My Story

Hello, My name is Ben. You may have met me in person. I want to share my testimony with you.

On the 27th of January, 2017, I became a changed person. This wasn’t a change that I could have made happen by my own will. Something supernatural happened to me.

The night before, I had got down on my knees and prayed to Jesus Christ. I told him I was sorry for all the bad things I had done. I told him that I wanted to live my life according to his plan. I made a decision in my heart that I was done living my life my own way.

The afternoon of the next day, while outside, I suddenly noticed everything seemed brighter. The colours were more vibrant. I felt a warm sensation in my head and around my chest. I felt a strong feeling of happiness. I had a smile on my face that I found hard to get rid of. I knew something had changed inside of me. There was no doubt in my mind that my prayer had been answered.

It is written in the Bible, that when you come to God he will give you a new heart. This is what I believe happened to me. I had no desire to live the way I had lived before. The things that used to interest me, no longer did. I no longer wanted to do anything wrong. At that point I had already made a decision to stop drinking. Out of all my attempts to stop drinking, around two weeks had been the longest I had managed to make it. After that night I had no trouble abstaining from alcohol. It took very little effort on my part not to drink. Previously with other addictions, I would have to go through a pretty rough time and many years of attempts to get clean. It has now been over 7 years and I haven’t had a drink. I have hardly given it any thought. This however is not unique to me, there are many other stories of people who have been freed from addictions.

This is just a few of the many changes that have happened in my life. I instantly became a better parent and person in general. I had previously been pretty selfish, this all changed overnight. As I said before this wasn’t myself willing to be different, I was different. Over the years I’ve tried to make various changes to my life. It always felt like one step forward, two steps back, and most of the time I would fall back into the same ditch. I’m not saying now that I’m perfect, I’m far from it. What has happened is that I’ve been set free from sin. I am no longer a slave to my old ways. I now feel like I am able to make the right decisions and I’m now on a journey now with Jesus Christ and he is guiding and leading me every step of the way.

So what led me up to that point where I made that prayer? I’m sure that most of us at some stage have pondered our existence. Why are we here? What is the point? I used to be pretty depressed thinking that we are just made up of atoms and once we die we just end up back in the ground. No real point or purpose. However deep down I don’t think I really believed that to be the truth. I always felt there was something more.

Since I was young I’ve been seeking the truth of our existence. After many years of searching, I kept getting pointed in the direction of Christianity. So I had come to the conclusion that God existed. I then thought, well I just need to read the Bible and go to church. I tried reading the Bible, but I didn’t really understand it at the time. I also tried going to church a couple of times and I felt like it wasn’t for me. So I went back to living the way I was for a few more years.

One day I was watching some videos on YouTube from a Christian saying that you don’t need to go to church to find God. He said that you just needed to repent of your sins and ask Jesus for forgiveness. He said that you need to be born again. Previously, I might have mocked somebody if they told me they were a born again Christian. But this is exactly what I found out you need to do. You have to confess your sins to Jesus Christ, ask for forgiveness, and accept his free gift of salvation and he will give you a new heart. Your old self needs to die, your old way of doing things. What happened to me has happened to countless others. This has sealed the deal for me. I now believe in God without a doubt, and know the words written in the Bible to be the truth. I’m also prepared to continue to forsake my own desires to serve God.

The message that I have for you all is that there is a choice you need to make. Although you may not believe it, when you die you won’t cease to exist. Your soul will leave your body and go to either Heaven or Hell. There are countless cases of near death experiences, where people who are clinically dead for a period of time, have left their body and seen and heard things that should have been impossible for them to know. There are many doctors that have studied this and many books have been written. Many of these people that have left their bodies have been shown Heaven and Hell and met Jesus Christ.

What you have to understand is that you are a sinner. Sin entered the world when the very first man Adam disobeyed God. We have all sinned against God and the penalty for sin is death. You may think it’s not your fault, however I’m sure you can remember countless times you did something wrong, you knew you weren’t supposed to do. God gave each and everyone of us a conscience and free will. We all have the ability to know right from wrong. But a lot of the time we chose to do the wrong thing. Because of this sin, you are unable to enter heaven when you die. In the Old testament, when a person sinned an animal would have to be sacrificed to atone for that sin. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, put an end to that by offering himself as the sacrifice for the whole world. It is only by turning away from your sinful ways and asking for forgiveness can you be a part of God’s kingdom. If you choose to live your life seeking after your own desires, then you will go to Hell. This is a place of torment and eternal suffering. While you are alive on this earth you still have a chance. You at least owe it to yourselves to quiet down your lives and seek the truth.

I understand it is very hard nowadays to seek the truth with all the distractions in this world. Everyone is quite content now that we have many forms of entertainment such as TV, Internet, Movies, video games, Netflix, Facebook and all the other social media. When was the last time you asked the question, Where did I come from? or What is my true purpose for being here? Because I tell you, God is building a kingdom for all those that want to be a part of it. There are actually two kingdoms, God’s eternal kingdom and Satan’s kingdom of this world. A lot of rich and famous people have openly admitted that they got where they are by selling their soul to the devil. This is not a joke, there is a dark side to the entertainment industry that is leading people away from the truth.

This life that I have chosen to live now there is no turning back. Knowing what I know now, the consequences for turning my back on God are worse then If I had never known the truth. I understand that most people will choose not to believe what I’m telling them. However it is my obligation to tell people what I know. It is your choice to accept or reject what I’m telling you, however the consequences are eternal. We are only on this earth for a short time. It is better that we give up our selfish desires and live for Jesus now then spend an eternity in Hell.

You don’t have to be part of an organisation to find God. The true church are the people that walk in the truth and have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I don’t want to bash on churches because many people have been saved because of them. The problem however with a lot of the churches today is that the members don’t actually stop sinning. They don’t obey the words of Jesus Christ. People look at all the churches and can see the hypocrisy. This is what turns a lot of people away from God. This is not the case for all churches, but churches that truly serve God, are few and far between.

So how are we supposed to live? We are to treat people the way we want to be treated. We are called to love one another. We aren’t to look down on those who we think are lower than ourselves. We are called to be humble. We are to help the poor or whoever is in need regardless of whether we know them or not. We are called to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Those who know him will hear his voice and follow him. We need to follow the commandments of Jesus Christ. We will be judged by the same words he spoke on the last day.

If you want to know Jesus Christ. Go to a place with no distractions, where you won’t be disturbed. Humble yourself, confess your sins and ask for forgiveness. You have to be prepared to stop sinning. You have to be prepared to give up the cares of this world and live for him. You can talk to him like you would your best friend. You need however to seek him with your whole heart. If you want to know more please feel free to email me: servantforchrist296@gmail.com
